“Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You” è un avvincente doppio LP che esplora le caratteristiche e le capacità più profonde dei Big Thief. Per poter indagare a fondo nella musica che Adrianne Lenker, Max Oleartchik, Buck Meek e James Krivchenia avevano desiderato nel 2020, la band ha deciso di scrivere e registrare in 4 distinte sessioni, un assurdo resoconto della loro crescita come individui, musicisti e come componenti di una famiglia elettiva.
I Big Thief hanno passato 5 mesi creando musica, tra Upstate New York, Topanga Canyon, The Rocky Mountains e Tucson, in Arizona, e realizzando 45 nuove canzoni. I pezzi migliori sono stati rielaborati fino a formare i 20 brani che rendono vario e fluido l’ascolto di Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You. L’album è stato prodotto dal batterista James Krivchenia, il primo ad aver proposto il concept di DNWMIBIY nel 2019, con l’idea di riunire in unico album i vari aspetti della scrittura di Adrianne e della band.
