il quartetto post-punk di South London, stanno per pubblicare una ristampa su vinile e cassetta dei loro primi due Ep, “Boundary Road Snacks and Drinks” / “Sweet Princess”.
In uscita il prossimo 8 marzo, il disco conterrà anche il nuovo singolo “Sit Down Meal”.

L’8 marzo i Dry Cleaning pubblicheranno una versione rimasterizzata dei loro primi due EP, “Boundary Road Snacks and Drinks / Sweet Princess”. Il disco includerà anche una demo del brano “Strong Feelings” tratto da “New Long Leg” e registrata durante le sessioni di “Boundary Road Snacks and Drinks”. In concomitanza con l’annuncio del disco, la band ha anche condiviso il nuovo brano “Sit Down Meal”.
Dopo un periodo prolifico di 18 mesi durante il quale la band ha pubblicato due acclamatissimi album in studio prodotti da John Parish, “New Long Leg” (2021) e “Stumpwork” (2022), e dopo aver rilasciato lo scorso anno l’Ep “Swampy”, i Dry Cleaning, originari del Sud di Londra, hanno voluto prendersi un momento per riflettere sul loro percorso e rendere omaggio alle loro radici.
La storia delle origini dei Dry Cleaning è ormai ben nota. Il chitarrista Tom Dowse, il batterista Nick Buxton e il bassista Lewis Maynard erano amici e suonavano insieme da anni. Hanno poi invitato Florence Shaw, visual artist e insegnante di disegno, a unirsi alla band nel 2017.
Con chiare influenze musicali provenienti da artisti come The Feelies, The Necessaries, The B52s e Pylon, i Dry Cleaning, limitati dallo spazio del piccolo garage in cui facevano le prove, erano attratti dal fare musica semplice, diretta e senza fronzoli.
A marzo 2018 il gruppo registra il primo EP di sei tracce, “Sweet Princess”. Pochi mesi dopo, a ottobre 2018, pubblicano un altro EP di sei tracce intitolato “Boundary Road Snacks and Drinks”. Dedicato allo spazio di prove della band nella casa di famiglia di Maynard a Sidcup, a sud di Londra, e a sua madre Susan, con brani come “Sit Down Meal” e “Viking Hair”, “Boundary Road Snacks and Drinks”, è un potente compagno di “Sweet Princess”. I due Ep condividono la stessa energia: l’ambiente in cui sono stati creati ha avuto una grande influenza sulla band durante quegli anni formativi.
